Project: New Plastics Economy Kenya – Development of a sustainable business model for 3D filament production in Kenya
Assignment: The purpose of the new plastics economy was to spur a formal circular model for recycling PET bottles by initiating circular linkage of plastic waste recycling stakeholders and to inspire other waste streams to minimize waste to drive recycling to full throttle in Kenya. The project aimed to enhance the diversion of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from dumpsites and landfills by establishing a good plastic waste collection system and increasing its recyclability into value – added products such as molded merchandise using 3D technology. This exercise involved development of a sustainable business model for filament and 3D printed materials in Kenya
